It must be noted that a charter to Bassa da India is not a leisurely island hopping cruise for the inexperienced sailor, fishermen or diver. You should understand that you are embarking on an expedition style adventure cruise, spending 10 days at sea with 2 days of open blue water sailing to reach the coral atoll. There is also no dry land except at low tied when the atolls fringing reefs are exposed as you can see in the numerous photos on this website.  

A charter to Bassa da India is therefore not a destination for the faint hearted or inexperienced diver or fishermen. At the same time clients must also appreciate and understand the nature of a yacht charter and living aboard a yacht. At sea, things never go according to plan, equipment may fail, and running repairs may well have to take place. There are no mariners to pull into or hardware stores to run to if something breaks or stops working. Clients have to be aware of the reality of spending 10 days at sea.

 

We also do not guarantee the weather to and at Bassa da India and it is the skipper's prerogative to turn around if weather conditions are unsafe. 

Clients will have no claim against OIS if a trip is interrupted by weather conditions or any other reasons whatsoever or if the French navy requests us to depart (this has never actually previously happened)

 

This is a world class once in a life time destination, but at the same time you must appreciate the nature of a charter to Bassa da India and in spending 10 days at sea.
